A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our first Holiday In Harlem event on Saturday. We hope you enjoyed it!
Well done to everyone who entered the competitions - they were a very close run thing! Congratulations to Sean and Hazel who won the Jack 'n' Jill and to Sarah who won the Charleston!

Wandsworth Civic Suite
Holiday in Harlem is a one-off night of great swing music, 1930s/40s-style glamour and much more in a lovely period venue with huge sprung wooden dance floor. With dancing til the early hours!
• Live Music from Jonny Boston & His Swing Band
This group - featuring seven of today's finest jazz musicians - really know how to swing! Playing classic tracks for dancing from the 1930s and 40s!
• Live Music in the beautiful period foyer too - as you come in! (Jack Coward duo)
• Top Swing DJ's
Tim's Jumpin' Jive (Hellzapoppin') · Natty Bo (Bakelite Bop) · Ronnie Slide · Johanna Johansson · Swingland's Smarty
• Cabaret from Attic Cats and Special Guests
... featuring Lindy Hop, Jazz, tap and more
• Lindy Hop "Jack'n'Jill" Competition
· Sign up as a "Jack" (lead) or "Jill" (follow) either now (by e-mail to hih@atticcats.co.uk) or on arrival at the event.
· You will be given a number to attach to your person.
· Make sure you're dancing between 9.15pm and 9.30pm (during the first band set) when we will be looking out for those numbers and choosing finalists based on the criteria "best all-round social dancers". So you may dance with anyone you like during that time but the more people the better! In particular we will be looking for ability to connect with different people, ability at different music tempos and general pizazz!
· Finalists will be called up after the Cabaret and partners will be chosen at random to dance "all-skate" (everyone at the same time) to the band. The winning couple will then be chosen by audience reaction.
Competition entry is free.
Trophies for the winning Jack and the winning Jill!
• Solo Charleston/freestyle jazz dance Competition
There will also be a solo Charleston/freestyle jazz dance competiton to LIVE music. No rules. Audience judged. Sign up in advance by e-mail to hih@atticcats.co.uk

Nina's Hair Parlour will be available in the beautiful period foyer from 4.30pm for retro/vintage styling. A session will cost £25 and you should book in advance if possible as demand is likely to be high!
